About The WTCCThe FIA World Touring Car Championship is the elite international class of Touring Car racing. The series was introduced in 1987. The WTCC visits prestigious circuits across the globe, from March to November, with races in Europe, South America, Africa and Asia. The series attracts bumper grids and is widely supported by the world's leading car manufacturers. Each race weekend consists of two rounds. Points are awarded in the drivers' and manufacturers' Championship from first to eighth place (1st-10pts, 2nd-8pts, 3rd-6pts, 4th-5pts, 5th-4pts, 6th-3pts, 7th-2pts, 8th-1pt).
The series is dedicated to providing enviromentally friendly motorsport and has placed a number of green initiatives in place. The series is eclusively bio-fuelled in 2009. | |
